Now that MP3 players are pretty much obsolete, I just bought my first-ever MP3 player. Now get off my lawn!

So you haven't owned a smartphone in the last 10 years either?

Who buys MP3 players anymore?
We just use our phones or tablets

Good choice.

Doesn't buy complex technology
Buys a Phaeton

I have one. But I use my phone for work, so I'd rather not run down my battery listening to music.

I want to buy a Minidisc player. Obsolete things are cool. You can still get these brand new for quite cheap.

I have an older version of that exact Sansa player, but my buttons are round and I haven't used it in years..
Good little player if my memory serves me right.

Some of the more recent smartphones have really good battery life. You can stream music all day and not have to charge until you go to bed.

I'm with you - I carry a cheap mp3 when travelling, climbing, running, skiing, or on the moto. The phone stays somewhere safer and drier.

Now buy yourself some shoes, hippie!

I'd have gotten a COWON if I was going for a pure media player, but the Sansa works too.

Bought the Phaeton first; can't afford complex technologies anymore.

I have one of those! They're brilliant. 4 gig storage plus 16 gig mem card. Works great for when your phone would be in danger. I use my sansa for when Im at the beach and boardwalk.

I personnally collect LaserDiscs and the "youngest car" I've ever owned, was a 1997 car that I bought in 2007... so don't worry, MP3 is far from being obsolete for me lol

The MP3 player is still entirely relevant, and I'm bummed that Apple killed the iPod Classic. There's something to be said about a device that does one thing very well. I still have an old iPod in the family van for playing tunes because radio is largely a wasteland of advertisements and bad music.

Should have bought a Zune.

I'll sell you mine. No, really. I've got a very nice Sony that I bought to record my performances. I hardly used it.

As I commented above, there is still a place for a device that does one thing very well.

Very good choice, though.

Which model is it?

I'll have to look. I'm not at home right now. It's been in the bottom of a drawer for years. I'll look when I get home.

I'm still gladly rocking my Zune HD. Definitely a decent little device.

How do they get all that tape in there?

I have one of these, the sound quality was supposed to be quite good on them. I guess it was.

I love the Sansa Clip. I have my old ~5yo one hanging in my car on FM transmitter duty. Can't beat the small size and tactile buttons!
